The lifeblood of this journal, of any journal, is a constant supply of quality material. We need submissions, submissions, submissions.

Editorial Comment Highlights

The first issue of the Claremont Review is surprising, but it shouldn't be. Nobody should be surprised at the wealth of talent among today's high school students. Nobody should be surprised that a journal designed specifically for their writing was dragged squalling from the publisher's primal muck. Nobody should be surprised that, given a goal of excellence to strive for, young writers will produce stories and poems of a calibre that denies the label 'student writing.'

We hope that the establishment of the 'The Claremont Review' will help to fill a void. There are a few literary vehicles for pre-adolescents in this country, and there are numerous fine journals with long standing reputations for providing adult writers an opportunity for publication.

The voice of the teenager, however, has been under-represented for a long time.
