the Review

Issue Number 17 - Spring 2000

Every poem, short story, play and interview we have published has helped to make the world a wiser, more habitable place to take up residence.

Editorial Comment Highlights

Every night before she retires, one of our editors writes in a little book she keeps beside the bed, all that she is thankful for. This is not a bad religion to belong to. It is too easy for us, in our hectic daily lives, to lose sight of the things that really matter.

Those of us who work with the Claremont Review, have a lot to be thankful for. We appreciate the support we have received over the years from foundations, parent groups, government agencies and generous individuals who share our vision of promoting the literary arts.

The works found in this issue are simply delightful. They demonstrate clearly that whether your inspiration comes from the Hakai Press or New York City, whether you are in grade 8 or enrolled in Princeton University, young adult writers do make a significant contribution to our literary heritage.
