us as editors when we sit down to examine the
page proofs of the next issue because certain
strange connections materialize. |

| What are the odds, we wondered,
of accepting two stories that feature scenes of
young women going for drives with their Chinese
grandmothers? And just how many times does the
image of an egg frying on a sidewalk actually
appear in this issue? Perhaps we should make it
a trivia question. |

and runners up of our poetry contest, as well
as the comments of our two hardworking judges,
Barbara Colebrook Peace and Kelly Parsons. The
contest was an enormous success. |
