the Review

Issue Number 23 - Spring 2003

Editorial Comment Highlights

This 23rd edition of the Claremont Review has a particularly global flavour: the poems and stories take us on journeys to the African Veldt, to the subway system in Japan, and to the streets of Chicago.

We are reminded of the power of poetry and language at times like these, when poets and writers around the world are coming together to incit change and promote dialogue through their writings. We feel proud and privileged to offer a voice to young adult writers who are in the vanguard of creative voices of this global generation.

On the same note, readers will find that not only are we expanding our borders but also our yearly contest: next year the Claremont Review looks forward to contest entries in three categories: Poetry, Fiction and Graphic Art. The editors would like to acknowledge and thank The Canada Council and The Claremont Parents Association for their continuing support.

One of the best things about good writing is that it inspires good writing. We're hoping this issue will do just that for our readers.
