Issue Number 27 - Spring 2005

Editorial Comment Highlights

Working on the same literary magazine for twenty-seven issues has had an effect on us. We feel like we have lived a whole other lifetime and our unique history has a way of pointing out things. The names change with every new issue, though occasionally the surnames are repeated. Young adult writers, always enthusiastic and eager to get published, are recommended by older siblings and by parents who themselves have an interest in the literary arts.

We receive many more submissions than we can publish each year, and this leads to healthy competition among aspiring writers. That a literary magazine has an impact of the chosen few we manage to publish is indisputable, but our arms of influence are long and pervasive and extend well beyond our published artists.

The Claremont Review is proud to announce a sponsor for our annual writing contest. Abebooks.com is a company with a huge international presence. Their support is not only financial, but their expert staff have performed miracles in the arena of promotion. The Claremont Review has been blessed with support from many quarters over the last fourteen years, including the administration and parent group associated with Claremont Secondary School. In particular, all those associated with the magazine would like to thank the outgoing principal, Dr. Jordan Tinney, for his unwavering support and creative ideas over the last five years.

"Something happens to start the story. Something like a wedding or a funeral, something tragic like death or a baby being born."
