Perhaps it is a belief of
all editorial boards that the issue being worked
on is the last and the best possible and that
the flow of good material has dried up, never
to darken the mailbox again.
It was certainly a thought that crossed the
minds of these editors as we compiled issue
3 last spring. The amazing thing about good
writing, however, is that it never stops.
People will always want to challenge themselves
in verse and prose, and this fourth issue of
The Claremont Review confirms the need for literary
magazines as a voice for poets and fiction writers,
especially a voice such as that provided by
this magazine whose mandate is to publish young
writers in search of a fair yardstick. |
