The editors
of The Claremont Review are looking to publish first
class poetry, short stories and short plays by young
adult writers (aged 13-19) anywhere in the English speaking
world.
What are we
looking for?
We publish anything from traditional
to post modern, but with a preference for works that
reveal something of the human condition.
Science Fiction, Fantasy,
Romance, most rhyming poetry.
Your first draft of anything.
Previously published work.
How
do I submit?
All work submitted should be neatly typed and
carefully edited with the name of the author at
the top of each page.
Fiction should be double-spaced and poems should
be on separate pages.
Include a cover page with your name, address,
phone number, email address and a brief BIO.
All submissions must be accompanied by a self-addressed,
stamped envelope or they cannot be returned.
Submissions from outside Canada (including the
USA!) must include either International Reply Coupons
or Canadian stamps. American
postage is not valid in Canada. IRCs should
be at least available to order from your local
post office, though they may not keep them in stock.
We have heard that some US postal outlets claim
not to sell them at all. Our understanding is that
this is wrong: selling IRCs is an international
obligation. Here is a link to the USPS website.
Response to your work will be given in four
to eight weeks, not including the months of July
and
August.
What is my
reward?
Contributors who are
published in The Claremont Review will receive one
perfect
bound copy of the magazine. We regret we are unable
to reward our artists monetarily at this time. Your
biggest reward will be that you have become a published
writer! All work submitted (except for contest entries)
will receive a personal response.
